JEDDAH — The Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held an emergency meeting in the Saudi city of Jeddah on Tuesday, strongly condemning Israel’s recognition of territories in the northern regions, describing the move as a serious violation of international law.

In a statement issued after the meeting, the OIC said Israel’s decision undermines United Nations resolutions and threatens peace and stability in the region.

The committee stressed that such actions are illegal and “null and void,” and cannot alter the legal or historical status of the territories.

The OIC reaffirmed its firm support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in line with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

The committee also warned that Israel’s actions risk escalating tensions at a time when the region is already facing significant political and security challenges. It called on the international community, particularly the United Nations and major world powers, to take urgent and effective measures to hold Israel accountable and prevent further violations.

The emergency meeting was convened amid growing concern among OIC member states over what they described as repeated unilateral steps by Israel that threaten the prospects for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East.
