ISLAMABAD — Pakistan has strongly rejected Israel’s announcement recognizing Somaliland as an independent state, warning that the move violates international law and threatens peace and stability in Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa region.
In a statement released by the Pakistani government, Islamabad said it firmly opposes any attempt to undermine Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. Pakistan described Israel’s recognition of what it called the “so-called independence” of Somaliland as illegal and unacceptable.
“These unlawful actions constitute a clear violation of international law and pose a serious risk to peace and stability in Somalia and the region,” the statement said, urging the international community to reject and prevent any steps that could weaken regional peace efforts.
Pakistan reaffirmed its full support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and internationally recognized borders, pledging continued backing for initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability.
The statement also reiterated Pakistan’s strong opposition to any forced displacement of Palestinians, reaffirming Islamabad’s unconditional support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate struggle for self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
