MOGADISHU, (HAN) – Somali politician Dr. Ali Abdullahi Siad has claimed that yesterday’s incident in Mogadishu was an attempted coup aimed at seizing control of the country’s presidential palace.

Speaking to the media in Mogadishu, Dr. Osoble described the incident as a well-organized plan targeting the highest institutions of the Somali state. He warned that the attempt highlighted the fragile nature of Somalia’s political stability and overall security.
“Yesterday’s incident was an orchestrated attempt to stage a coup and take over the Presidential Palace by force. There was a calculated plan involving weapons and the use of violence to overthrow a legitimate government,” Osoble told reporters.
He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Osoble cautioned that such actions undermine public trust and pose a serious threat to Somalia’s state-building process.
The politician further reiterated his call for respect for the constitution and democratic governance, stressing that political disagreements must be resolved through dialogue and consensus rather than through force or military takeover.
“This nation cannot afford to slide back into chaos. Any political solution must come through negotiations and constitutional processes—not through violence and coups,” Cosoble emphasized.
The alleged coup attempt has sparked widespread debate and concern across Somalia, with many citizens expressing fear that the country’s fragile political stability could once again be jeopardized.
