The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, today officially visited the Haawaay area on the outskirts of Mogadishu in the Middle Shabelle region, where he laid the foundation stone for major development projects.
The President received a warm welcome from the President of Hirshabelle State, H.E. Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Ali Gudlawe), along with federal and regional government officials.
The key projects set to be implemented in Haawaay include:
• A new international airport, which upon completion will be the largest in the country.
• A modern seaport, aimed at boosting trade and strengthening connections between Hirshabelle, other regions, and international markets.
President Hassan Sheikh and President Gudlawe jointly laid the foundation stone for the airport project, which has been described as a significant step forward in development, eagerly anticipated by the local population.
