LASANOD – A prominent local businessman, Jabutaawi, has been detained after an armed clash involving forces reportedly under his support erupted in Lasanod, sources in the town confirm.

The detention came after elders from Jabutaawi’s clan collectively handed him over to local security authorities. According to the elders, this action was taken to prevent further confrontations and curb escalating violence in the area.
Community leaders emphasized that the move aims to reduce tensions and called for dialogue and peaceful resolutions to ongoing disputes.
Regional authorities and traditional leaders are reportedly holding discussions to reinforce security measures and prevent a resurgence of deadly confrontations in the town.
However, Northeasthren’s establishment, the new administratin has taken significant steps toward development and stability. The state authorities have focused on enhancing security and implementing a registration process for local council members, a move seen as part of preparations for future federal parliamentary elections.
This initiative is backed by the Federal Government of Somalia, aiming to ensure that the election of federal lawmakers is independent of the influence of regional administrations.
