Lasanod – Puntland President Abdikhadir Ahmed Aw-Ali, widely known as Firdhiye, on Friday urged political leaders and citizens to rise above partisan divides following a fiercely contested election that exposed sharp rivalries.

Addressing the public after the vote, President Firdhiye acknowledged the tensions that characterized the campaign but called for reconciliation.

“Yesterday’s election is behind us. Today, I extend my hand in unity, putting aside campaign bitterness,” he said.

The president stressed that the election outcome should serve as a foundation for strengthening democratic institutions rather than deepening divisions. “Our future depends on collaboration among political leaders, civil society, and the people,” he added.

Analysts noted strong voter turnout, reflecting high public engagement and the stakes involved, even as competing factions debated leadership and policy priorities.

By extending an olive branch, President Firdhiye signaled his commitment to prioritize stability, development, and the collective well-being of Puntland over political rivalry. Observers say his call for unity could ease tensions and foster a more cooperative political climate in the region.
