Doha — As the President of Somaliland administration continues his third day in the Qatari capital, Doha, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar has released an official statement regarding a meeting between the President of Somaliland and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The statement read:
“His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, today received His Excellency Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi Irro, President of Somaliland, who is currently on a visit to the country.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments in Somalia, the importance of supporting efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region, and ways to enhance relations and build trust across various sectors.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterated Qatar’s belief that the future of Somalia lies in openness and effective communication among all its components, while emphasizing the need to uphold the sovereignty and unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.”
The Somaliland delegation, which initially stated that their visit came at the official invitation of the Qatari government, had been waiting several days to meet with high-level Qatari officials. It is worth noting that the Emir of Qatar was on an official visit to Spain during the Somaliland delegation’s stay, while the meeting with the Prime Minister was described as one focused on the progress, unity and stability of Somalia.
