Qatar’s constructive engagement in the Horn of Africa continues to expand, with President Abdirahman Abdullahi Irro of Somaliland administration leading a high-level delegation to Doha for an official visit.

This important mission aims to explore new opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, development, and peacebuilding.

Mr. irro and his team are expected to meet senior Qatari officials and influential business leaders, further deepening ties between the people of Somaliland and Qatar.

Qatar, known for its prosperity and active diplomacy, has become a trusted partner in the region, working closely with Somalia’s federal government and member states to promote stability and economic progress.

Since 2017, relations between Somalia and Qatar have flourished, with Qatari investments contributing to development, infrastructure, and humanitarian projects that benefit communities across the country.

President Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe) — Jubbaland:
President Madobe’s visits to Qatar have opened doors for greater cooperation on security, economic growth, and development assistance.

Jubbaland has already seen positive results from Qatari-backed initiatives.

Other Federal Member States:
Leaders from Hirshabelle, South West, and former Galmudug President Ahmed Duale Gelle (Xaaf) have also engaged with Qatari partners to advance shared goals of peace, prosperity, and regional integration.

Qatar’s approach highlights its commitment to working with all Somali stakeholders — from the federal government to regional states — in pursuit of a peaceful and united Somalia. Its efforts complement those of other international partners and reflect a broader vision of inclusive development in the Horn of Africa.

Analysts see these growing ties as a hopeful sign for the region’s future, with Qatar playing a positive role in supporting dialogue, unity, and sustainable progress.
