Mogadishu – The Commissioner of Somalia’s National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mohamud Moallim, held high-level talks with Ugochi Daniels, Deputy Director of Operations at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), during her official visit to Somalia this week.

The meeting, which comes amid a deepening drought and ongoing humanitarian challenges in the country, focused on strengthening collaboration between the two agencies to deliver more effective and timely relief to affected communities.
Key topics discussed included the growing impact of drought, armed conflict, climate-related displacement, and other crises that continue to burden Somalia’s most vulnerable populations. Both parties acknowledged the pressing need to enhance response mechanisms and ensure sustainability in humanitarian operations.
Commissioner Moallim and Deputy Director Daniels reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation through innovative approaches and joint action plans aimed at improving aid delivery and resilience building.
The meeting concluded with a shared pledge to maintain a strong and active partnership in tackling Somalia’s urgent humanitarian needs.
