ISTANBUL, (HAN) — Somalia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Mahmoud Ahmed Aden (Gesood), participated in the Türkiye–Africa Business and Economic Forum (TABEF) held in Istanbul, an event aimed at strengthening trade and investment ties between Türkiye and African nations.
The high-level forum brought together senior government officials, business leaders, investors, and representatives of international and regional organizations to discuss economic cooperation, trade facilitation, and opportunities for sustainable development across the African continent.
During the forum, Minister Aden took part in the Ministerial Meeting chaired by Türkiye’s Minister of Trade, Prof. Ömer Bolat, which focused on enhancing bilateral trade partnerships, promoting industrial cooperation, and creating favorable conditions for investment between Türkiye and Africa.
In his engagements, Minister Aden underscored Somalia’s commitment to deepening economic collaboration with Türkiye, highlighting the potential for investment in key sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing. He also emphasized the importance of regional trade integration and private sector participation in driving inclusive growth.
The two-day forum served as a strategic platform to explore future cooperation frameworks, discuss policy reforms, and encourage business-to-business partnerships. Participants also reviewed progress made since the previous Türkiye–Africa economic summits and identified new areas for joint ventures and technological exchange.
The event concluded with a closing ceremony presided over by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who reaffirmed Türkiye’s dedication to expanding its economic footprint in Africa through mutual respect, partnership, and shared prosperity.
TABEF, organized by the Turkish Ministry of Trade in collaboration with the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkiye (DEİK), has become one of the most important platforms for advancing economic dialogue between Türkiye and the African continent.
