Mogadishu – The Federal Minister of Defence of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, officially received the newly appointed British Ambassador to Somalia, H.E. Charles Nicholas King, at his office in Mogadishu today. The ambassador was accompanied by senior officials from the British Embassy.

During the high-level meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the United Kingdom and Somalia, with a strong focus on security cooperation, military training, and joint efforts in combating terrorism.

Minister Fiqi and Ambassador King explored how the partnership between the two nations could support Somalia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and eliminate threats posed by terrorist groups such as Al-Shabaab and ISIS.

The discussions also touched on accelerating the coordination and support related to the African Union-led peace support operation in Somalia, known as AUSSOM.

The meeting underscored the UK’s continued commitment to supporting Somalia’s stabilization, development, and security sector reform as the country moves toward lasting peace and stability.
