NEW YORK (HAN) – Somalia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abukar Dahir Osman Baale, has sharply condemned Israel’s recent attack on Qatar during a meeting of the UN Security Council.

In his remarks, Ambassador Baale accused Israel of dragging the wider region into conflict, citing its repeated military operations against Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, and Yemen. He warned that such actions risk destabilizing not only the Middle East but also global peace and security.
“We stand firmly with the Government of Qatar and fully support its legitimate right to take any necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty in response to Israel’s aggression,” Ambassador Baale told the Council.
The meeting was attended by Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, along with senior delegations from Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan. Also present were most ambassadors representing member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), underscoring broad concern among Muslim-majority nations over the escalation.
The session highlighted deepening divisions within the international community over Israel’s widening military campaign, with Arab and Muslim countries rallying behind Qatar and warning that the conflict could spill over further if unchecked.
