Mogadishu – The Federal Government of Somalia has condemned a violent assault in the border town of Beled-Hawo, describing it as a “criminal act” allegedly orchestrated by Jubaland leader Ahmed Mohamed Islam, also known as Ahmed Madobe.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Interior and Federal Affairs, armed militias reportedly loyal to the Jubaland administration launched a coordinated midday attack on key government facilities, including the offices of the Immigration and Naturalization Agency and national security camps in Gedo region.
“This deliberate aggression occurred while civilians were going about their daily lives, reflecting a blatant disregard for public safety,” the ministry stated. “It signals a disturbing pattern of lawlessness from the Jubaland leadership.”
The federal government expressed deep concern over the attack and extended condolences to those affected. It pledged to hold all perpetrators accountable, warning that militias used in such operations would face the full force of the law.
The incident underscores growing tensions between the federal government and the semi-autonomous Jubaland administration, further complicating Somalia’s fragile political landscape.
