Pretoria — Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Abdisalam Abdi Ali, today officially inaugurated Somalia’s new embassy building in Pretoria, a landmark diplomatic achievement that aligns with the nation’s 65th Independence Day celebrations.

The ceremony drew senior South African government officials, accredited diplomats, and members of the Somali diaspora. The event underscored Somalia’s national pride and its expanding role on the global diplomatic stage.

In his address, Minister Abdisalam hailed the new embassy as a symbol of Somalia’s growing international presence and its determination to deepen ties with South Africa and the wider region. He stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in key areas including trade, education, and regional security.

Now fully owned by Somalia, the embassy is set to enhance consular services, foster bilateral collaboration, and serve as a vital platform for promoting Somalia’s interests across Southern Africa.

Somalia’s Ambassador to South Africa, H.E. Mohamed Sheikh Isack, welcomed attendees and thanked them for their support. He paid special tribute to the Somali community in South Africa for its role in advancing the embassy’s mission and nurturing strong people-to-people connections.
