Mogadishu — The Government of Somalia has released details about an aircraft accident that occurred earlier today within the perimeter of Aden Adde International Airport, specifically in the section where the African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) forces are stationed.

Ahmed Moalim Hassan, Director of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, informed the media that the aircraft involved was a helicopter belonging to the AUSSOM forces, which had departed this morning from the military airstrip in Ballidoogle.

The director confirmed that the accident resulted in no casualties, and all eight individuals on board were unharmed. He further stated that an investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the accident.

However, the director noted that the incident led to the temporary closure of parts of the airport. So far, AUSSOM forces have not issued an official statement regarding the event.
