DOHA, (HAN) — The Minister of Family Affairs and Human Rights of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, and her delegation paid an official visit today to the Family Court of the State of Qatar.
Upon arrival, the Minister and her delegation were warmly received by Dr. Ghanem bin Thamer Al-Mutref Al-Humaidi, a member of Qatar’s Judicial Services Council. The visit included a comprehensive briefing on the structure, functions, and operations of the Family Court.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Makhzoumi and her delegation held extensive discussions with different departments of the court. The Qatari officials shared insights into the key challenges they face in managing family-related cases and the mechanisms used to address and resolve them effectively.
Minister Al-Makhzoumi also highlighted the existing challenges within Somalia’s judicial system regarding family matters. She emphasized the importance of establishing a specialized Family Court in Somalia to enhance justice and social stability.
The Minister expressed her appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by the Qatari authorities and noted that Somalia could learn valuable lessons from Qatar’s experience, particularly given the two nations’ shared cultural and religious values.
At the conclusion of the visit, Minister Al-Makhzoumi toured various sections of the Family Court, including the hearing rooms and the mediation department, which focuses on resolving family disputes amicably.
