Senior officials from the Somali government and Hirshabelle State have announced a new contingent of local forces in the Haji Ali area of Middle Shabelle region, underscoring preparations for a major offensive against the militant group Al-Shabaab.

The delegation was led by Member of Hirshabelle Parliament Gedi Omane, the State Police Commander Hassan Dhi’sow, and Middle Shabelle Deputy Governor Muse Shitawe. Their visit formed part of Hirshabelle’s wider efforts to mobilize and support community defense units that will play a central role in operations to liberate areas under Al-Shabaab’s control.
During their inspection, the officials met with local forces already stationed in Adalle district and its surrounding areas.
These fighters, drawn from local communities, have been identified as crucial allies in upcoming military campaigns aimed at reclaiming territory in Middle Shabelle.
The leaders praised the determination of the community fighters and urged them to intensify their efforts, stressing that both the Hirshabelle administration and the Federal Government of Somalia would provide sustained backing to ensure the success of the operations.
“The fight against Al-Shabaab requires unity and resilience. Our government will stand shoulder to shoulder with you until these terrorists are completely removed from our lands,” officials assured the troops.
The mobilization in Haji Ali marks a renewed push in the federal-state security partnership, with Middle Shabelle expected to be a frontline region in the broader offensive against Al-Shabaab across central Somalia.
