Mogadishu – The Federal Minister for Women and Human Rights Development of Somalia, H.E. Ambassador Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, welcomed a high-level delegation from UN Women to her office today. The visiting delegation was led by Dr. Rukaya Mohamed, the new Head of the UN Women Programme in Somalia.
During the meeting, Dr. Rukaya expressed her appreciation to the Ministry for the warm reception and commended its commitment to advancing women’s rights and gender equality in Somalia. She pledged to strengthen the partnership between UN Women and the Ministry, promising to double the efforts in joint initiatives and cooperation.
Minister Al-Makhzoumi welcomed Dr. Rukaya to her new role and shared key priorities and ongoing programs at the Ministry. She emphasized the importance of close collaboration with international partners like UN Women in promoting women’s empowerment and safeguarding human rights in Somalia.
The meeting highlighted shared goals and reaffirmed mutual commitment to accelerating progress on gender equity and human rights development across the country.
