MOGADISHU, (HA) — Somali federal lawmaker Mohamed Abdullahi Burale known as Raaxeeye has strongly criticized the leadership of the Hirshabelle State administration, saying that residents of the Hiiraan region have lost confidence in the regional government due to what he described as power concentration and political marginalization.

In an exclusive interview with Goobjoog News, MP Raaxeeye said that the people of Hiiraan feel alienated and unrepresented in the current Hirshabelle administration.

“My people from Hiiraan are not happy with the Hirshabelle administration,” Raaxeeye said. “The region is being ruled by one man who acts as both judge and ruler. There is no fairness, and the people of Hiiraan are tired of being ignored.”

The outspoken legislator accused the Hirshabelle leadership of sidelining community elders and local representatives from Hiiraan in key decision-making processes.

“When Hirshabelle was formed, the idea was to create a fair system that represented both Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle,” he added. “But today, what we see is total domination by one side. Hiiraan’s interests are not protected, and our voices are not being heard in the state government.”

MP Raaxeeye also touched on broader political concerns in Somalia, including the need for equitable power-sharing and land governance.

“If justice and inclusion are not respected, then federalism becomes meaningless,” he said. “We want a system that listens to local communities, not one that imposes decisions from above.”

The MP’s remarks come amid increasing public dissatisfaction in Hiiraan, where local leaders and traditional elders have repeatedly expressed frustration over what they call imbalanced representation within the Hirshabelle administration.

Community protests and political disputes in the region have in recent years highlighted the deep divisions between Hiiraan and the Hirshabelle leadership, with some residents calling for greater autonomy or even a separate regional status.

Raaxeeye urged the federal government to take the grievances of Hiiraan residents seriously and facilitate dialogue aimed at achieving fair political representation.

“The solution is not confrontation but reform,” he said. “We must correct the injustices that have created mistrust between the people of Hiiraan and the Hirshabelle administration.”

The Hirshabelle State government has not yet responded to the MP’s remarks.
