MOGADISHU, (HAN) — The National Salvation Forum and a group of Somali lawmakers from both houses of parliament have announced plans to file legal cases against President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, his administration, and senior officials accused of human rights violations, corruption, and the forced displacement of impoverished families.

The lawsuits are expected to be filed in both domestic and international courts, citing alleged constitutional breaches, abuse of power, and the illegal sale of public and communal lands.
In a joint statement released by the Forum and supporting legislators, the group accused the federal government of failing to uphold its constitutional responsibilities, undermining public trust, and weakening the federal system.
President Mohamud and his government were specifically accused of unlawfully amending the constitution, delaying regional elections, hindering the fight against the Al-Shabaab militant group, and severing ties with the federal member states of Jubbaland and Puntland.
The Forum called on Somali citizens to organize peaceful demonstrations both inside and outside the country to protest what it described as rampant corruption and the abuse of executive authority.
The statement also emphasized that the Somali people have a legal right to self-defense and asserted that their unified voice is essential to safeguarding the nation’s future and sovereignty.
