MOGADISHU, (HAN) –The Somali Minister of Transport and Aviation, MP Mohamed Farah Nouh, recently submitted a request to Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre during a visit to Aden Adde Airport, following complaints from the public about airport management.
Minister Mohamed urged the Prime Minister to take full responsibility for the airport’s administration, stating, “Prime Minister, I request that the government takes ownership of the airport’s management. While security agencies assist in operations, overall responsibility must be clearly assigned.”
In response, Prime Minister Hamsa Abdi Barre directed all officials to follow his leadership, emphasizing that he will oversee the airport’s policy and administration. “The senior officials, the Minister, and the Aviation Authority are responsible, but the Minister will lead. I expect all agencies to cooperate accordingly,” he said.
The directive comes amid growing public complaints regarding mismanagement at Aden Adde Airport. During his visit two weeks ago, Prime Minister Hamsa inspected the airport’s operations and instructed all leadership to address public grievances, highlighting issues of neglect and poor maintenance at the facility.
