MOGADISHU, (HAN) – The Somali Police Force, particularly officers from the Garasbaaleey District Police Station, have arrested a woman identified as Malyuun Awad Haidar, who is accused of insulting national leaders and engaging in inappropriate conduct.

According to police officials, the act carried out by the suspect undermines the dignity and honor of the country’s leadership and contravenes the Somali Constitution as well as established national laws. Authorities confirmed that Malyuun is currently in police custody and will be referred to the competent court for legal proceedings.
In a statement, the Somali Police Force also revealed that investigations are underway to trace other individuals suspected of committing similar offenses, including acts of misconduct and defamation against state leaders.
The move comes after the police recently issued a directive banning insults against leaders, incitement of clan divisions, and the unauthorized wearing of military uniforms. In recent weeks, several young people have also been arrested on charges of insulting the President and other high-ranking officials.
Police reiterated their commitment to upholding law and order, stressing that individuals found guilty of such offenses will face the full force of the law.
