MOGADISHU (HAN) – The Chief of the Somali Police, Lieutenant General Asad Osman Abdullahi, recently held a private meeting with Dr. Abdirisak Khalif Ahmed, a well-known politician from the northeastern region of Somalia.

Dr. Khalif, who was the runner-up in the recent regional elections in northeastern Somalia, reportedly met with the Police Chief in a special session at his office. During the meeting, Dr. Khalif, who had initially contested for the presidency of the region, formally withdrew his candidacy and pledged his support for the current regional president.

The private discussion is seen as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen political dialogue and cooperation between national security authorities and regional leaders, especially in the context of ensuring stability and smooth governance in northeastern Somalia.

The Somali Police Chief has been actively engaging with regional politicians and officials to enhance collaboration and address security challenges across the country.
