MOGADISHU – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday attended a high-level summit in Guba, Ethiopia, focused on financing the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).

The five-party meeting was also attended by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh, Kenya’s President William Ruto, and African Union Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat.

Talks centered on enhancing regional cooperation, particularly in security and stabilization, with strong emphasis on sustaining support for AUSSOM operations.

President Mohamud underlined the importance of continued assistance to Somalia’s National Army and the AUSSOM mission, noting that such support is crucial for consolidating recent gains against extremist groups.
