MOGADISHU– President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Thursday received a high-level delegation led by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, at the presidential palace in Mogadishu.

Talks centered on reinforcing the long-standing brotherly relations and deep-rooted cooperation between Somalia and the United Arab Emirates, with a particular focus on economic and security collaboration.

During the meeting, Sheikh Shakhboot delivered a special message from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to President Mohamud.

President Mohamud thanked the UAE for its continued support to the Somali people and government, while also sending a personal message to President Mohamed bin Zayed.

President Hassan Sheikh reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with the UAE and highlighted ongoing national efforts to advance security, democratization, and development.

The visit comes just hours after President Mohamud and Somalia’s intelligence chief held a closed-door meeting with Sudan’s intelligence director, who arrived in Mogadishu on a secret visit amid heightened tensions between Khartoum and Abu Dhabi.
