Mogadishu — Somali Prime Minister H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre on Wednesday held a farewell meeting with Sweden’s outgoing Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Joachim Waern, as the diplomat concluded his term of service in the Horn of Africa nation.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Barre commended Ambassador Waern for his valuable contributions to strengthening Somali-Swedish relations. He highlighted the ambassador’s role in supporting Somalia’s economic development, humanitarian efforts, healthcare, education, and poverty reduction initiatives.
Ambassador Waern expressed his appreciation to the Somali government and people for their cooperation and hospitality during his tenure. He underscored the strength of the partnership between the two countries and the progress achieved through close collaboration.
Prime Minister Barre reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to further deepening diplomatic ties with Sweden, emphasizing the importance of continued partnership in advancing shared goals and improving the lives of the Somali people.
