Yinchuan – Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre arrived Monday in Yinchuan to take part in the 7th China-Arab States Expo, a flagship international platform designed to boost trade, investment, energy cooperation, and technology exchange between China and the Arab world.

The four-day forum, which gathers government officials, business leaders, and investors from more than 20 Arab countries, provides Somalia with a rare opportunity to present its economic potential to a global audience.
According to Somali government sources, Prime Minister Barre will deliver a keynote address emphasizing Somalia’s untapped resources and the country’s readiness to welcome foreign investment. His speech is expected to highlight opportunities in natural resources, fisheries, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure development.
Barre is also set to encourage Chinese companies to take part in Somalia’s rebuilding process, positioning the Horn of Africa nation as an emerging market in East Africa. “Somalia is opening its doors to international investors, and we see China as a key partner in our journey toward economic growth,” one official said ahead of the visit.
The China-Arab States Expo has grown in significance since its launch in 2013, serving as a major hub for cross-border cooperation.
For Somalia, this year’s gathering comes at a critical moment, as the country works to stabilize its economy, strengthen international partnerships, and attract capital for post-conflict reconstruction.
Analysts say Barre’s participation reflects Mogadishu’s broader diplomatic strategy of deepening ties with both China and Arab states, while positioning Somalia as a strategic trade and investment gateway in the Horn of Africa.
