KUWAIT – Somalia and Kuwait have signed a series of agreements aimed at boosting diplomatic cooperation and strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.
Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, who is on an official visit to Kuwait, held a meeting in the capital with his Kuwaiti counterpart, Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.
During the talks, the two ministers deeply discussed the longstanding bonds of friendship between the two brotherly nations and explored ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors. They also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.
Following the meeting, both sides signed several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs), underlining their shared commitment to deepening cooperation.
The signed agreements included:
• The establishment of a Joint Committee to accelerate bilateral cooperation.
• An agreement on bilateral consultations between the two foreign ministries.
• A cooperation MoU between the Saud Al-Nasser Al-Sabah Diplomatic Institute of Kuwait and the Institute for Diplomatic Studies under Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Officials from both countries hailed the agreements as an important step towards building a stronger, more structured partnership that would benefit the peoples of Somalia and Kuwait
