MOGADISHU — Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ali Balcad, held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Waleed Elkhereiji, focusing on strengthening diplomatic relations, regional stability, and expanding cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting took place as Somalia continues to deepen ties with Gulf partners and seeks greater international support for security, economic development, and humanitarian assistance. Officials said the discussions also addressed regional developments in the Horn of Africa and the broader Middle East.

During the meeting, Balcad said Somalia values the leadership and diplomatic role played by Saudi Arabia in promoting stability and balance in the region at a time of global uncertainty. He also emphasized Somalia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, and development.

Both sides discussed ways to increase coordination on political and diplomatic issues, as well as support Somalia’s ongoing efforts to stabilize the country and rebuild state institutions after decades of conflict. They also explored opportunities to boost economic ties and encourage partnerships that could contribute to Somalia’s recovery and growth.

Saudi Arabia has long maintained diplomatic and development engagement with Somalia and is considered one of the important partners supporting regional stability and humanitarian initiatives in the country.

The discussions highlighted ongoing cooperation between Somalia and Saudi Arabia, with both sides emphasizing the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, and partnership in addressing regional and international challenges.

Officials did not immediately release further details about specific agreements or outcomes from the meeting, but both delegations reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and closer diplomatic engagement in the future.
