Mogadishu — The Federal Government of Somalia has taken a significant step towards enhancing international cooperation by approving a new agreement with Egypt. During a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, the Council of Ministers endorsed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Somalia and Egypt, focused on collaboration in the areas of justice and the development of Somalia’s National Labor Migration Policy.
In the same session, the Council also approved another key MoU—this time between the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the ministries responsible for transport and infrastructure in Africa’s coastal nations.
The agreement, which aims to boost regional transport links, was signed on Somalia’s behalf by the Ministry of Ports and Marine Transport.
The Council was further briefed on progress in the ongoing dialogue between the Federal Government and the National Salvation Forum. The ministers praised these talks, as well as previous consultations with registered political parties and organizations, which have addressed vital national issues concerning Somalia’s future.
Finally, the meeting reviewed reports from the Ministries of Security and Defense on the country’s security situation and the successful celebrations marking Somalia’s Independence Week, which were widely observed across the nation.
