Mogadishu – At least three soldiers were killed and two others injured after a traffic soldier from the Puntland administration opened fire on a vehicle carrying members of the Garowe municipal police forces, according to eyewitness.

The incident has taken place in front of the Nugaal Regional Traffic Police Headquarters in Garowe, the capital of Nugaal region.

Eyewitnesses confime that the assailant, who is believed to be part of the road safety unit, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. He reportedly escaped with the weapon belonging to one of the slain soldiers.

The two injured officers were taken to medical facilities in Garowe, where they are currently receiving treatment. Authorities have not released details about the severity of their injuries.

Regional security forces have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the suspect.

While the exact motive for the attack remains unknown, but preliminary reports suggest the shooting may have resulted from a misunderstanding or dispute between the soldiers involved.

So far, neither the Nugaal regional administration nor Puntland security officials have issued an official statement about the incident. The shooting has sparked concern among residents in Garowe, raising questions about internal discipline and coordination within local security forces.
