KINSHASA, (HAN) – The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Tanzania and the East African Community (EAC), Mr. Ilyas Ali Hassan, formally received his diplomatic credentials for the DRC from the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs. Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner.

During the meeting, Ambassador Ilyas and Minister Wagner discussed ways to strengthen the fraternal relationship and cooperation between the two nations, particularly in the areas of regional peace, trade opportunities, facilitation of travel, and the release of Somali citizens detained in the DRC.

Ambassador Ilyas expressed his gratitude to the DRC government for the warm reception extended to the Somali community living in the country, as well as the hospitality shown to him and his delegation during their official visit.

The two sides also agreed to encourage investment, promote trade, and collaborate on easing visa procedures and residency regulations for Somali citizens in the DRC.
