LASANOD — Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has formally congratulated Abdulkadir Ahmed Ali, who was recently elected President, and Abdirishid Yusuf Jibril, elected as Vice President of the Northeastern Somalia Federal Member State, following a smooth and widely observed electoral process.
In an official statement, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended the lawmakers, parliamentary leadership, and presidential candidates for demonstrating political maturity, discipline, and commitment to democratic principles throughout the election. He emphasized that the process reflects a growing culture of democratic governance in the region and a dedication to stability and progress.
The President prayed for divine guidance to help the newly elected leadership successfully carry out the considerable responsibilities that lie ahead. “I wish President Abdulkadir Ahmed Ali and his Deputy Abdirishiid Yusuf Jibril a leadership that unites the people of Northeastern Somalia, promotes peace, drives development, and strengthens governance. The Federal Government of Somalia stands ready to support the state administration to ensure the completion of federalization,” he stated.
President Mohamud also called on the people and leadership of the Northeastern State to prioritize national unity, cooperation, and collaboration to overcome current challenges, including security, development gaps, and social cohesion.
President Hassan highlighted that these values are essential for achieving sustainable progress and ensuring that the state continues to play a constructive role within Somalia’s federal system.
The federal government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting state administrations across Somalia, encouraging joint efforts to consolidate democracy, improve service delivery, and foster inclusive development throughout the country.
