Lasanod – The Vice President of the SSC-Khaatumo administration, Mohamed Abdi Ismail, has firmly rejected Puntland’s recent statement, which refuses to recognize the regions of Sool and Cayn as part of the self-declared federal entity.
In a brief statement issued by the SSC-Khaatumo leadership, Vice President Ismail described Puntland’s remarks as “regrettable” and emphasized that no one has the authority to question the legitimacy of SSC-Khaatumo’s governance over the regions of Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn.
“It is unfortunate that the Puntland Ministry of Interior released such a statement. SSC-Khaatumo is a legitimate federal member state within the Federal Republic of Somalia. Our existence is not up for debate, and no entity has the right to question it,” said Vice President Ismail.
He further asserted that the legitimacy of the Khaatumo administration is non-negotiable.

“Puntland is reckless in claiming that the Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn regions belong to Puntland, it is like someone daydreaming,” he added.
This strong response comes after Puntland declared that it considers Sool and Cayn to be part of its territorial jurisdiction and that it does not recognize SSC-Khaatumo’s administrative authority in those regions.
