Khartoum – Amid ongoing challenges in Sudan’s capital, the Sudanese Teachers’ Committee is taking a strong stand to protect students and educators, urging that the reopening of schools be aligned with improved safety, essential services, and humanitarian support.
Despite continued disruptions to electricity, water, and communication services across most parts of Khartoum, Sudan’s dedicated educators are using their voices to advocate for a learning environment that ensures the well-being of all. Teachers emphasized the need for secure and functional school settings, highlighting their commitment to education while calling for urgent action to restore vital services and public safety.
The call comes at a time when the humanitarian organization LIZENFO has also raised concerns about displacement and access to basic needs. Their reports show a growing return of residents to displacement areas and a rising demand for coordinated international aid to stabilize living conditions.
Teachers in Khartoum continue to navigate daily hardships—including limited internet, high food prices, and fluctuating telecommunications—yet remain united in their call for justice, safety, and improved infrastructure. Their efforts aim to ensure that when schools do reopen, they do so in a way that supports both learning and lives.
In a hopeful sign of civic resilience, this advocacy reflects the determination of Sudanese civil society to shape a better future—prioritizing the safety of children, the rights of workers, and the restoration of essential services.
