Maxaas, Hiiraan – In a significant show of solidarity, prominent members of the Ceyr sub-clan of the Habargidir, including lawmakers, ministers, and influential business figures, arrived today in the Maxaas district of Hiiraan region to deliver a substantial aid package to the Xawaadle clan. The support comes amid intense fighting between local forces and the extremist group Al-Shabaab (AS).
The aid, described as one of the largest ever delivered to front-line positions in the ongoing conflict, includes a cash donation of $50,000, ten camels, 200 goats, two truckloads of food supplies, and a fleet of military vehicles.
This contribution is widely seen as a historic gesture, reinforcing inter-clan unity in the face of terrorism and insecurity. The Ceyr clan’s assistance is expected to significantly bolster Xawaadle fighters currently engaged in fierce battles with Al-Shabaab militants in Hiiraan.
Meanwhile, Xawaadle elders expressed their gratitude for the support shown by their Habargidir brothers, particularly the Ceyr sub-clan, during their time of need, stating: “History will remember you.”
Observers also note that this latest gesture by the Ceyr clan may serve as a symbolic act of gratitude to the Xawaadle for their critical support during the 2008 conflicts in Guriceel and Dhuusamareeb. At that time, the Xawaadle clan stood firmly beside the Ceyr, offering military assistance during a crucial period of internal clan strife.
Today’s aid delivery not only strengthens the alliance between the two major clans but also highlights a growing grassroots movement of Somali-led cooperation in the war against terrorism. “Supporting the people of Hiiraan is a duty upon the people of Galmudug,” said MP Abdisamad Moalim Mohamud, who accompanied the reinforcement troops. As the final push toward Moqokori draws near, all eyes are on Maxaas. The success of the upcoming operation will depend heavily on the ability of the various allied forces – government troops, Macawiisley fighters, and newly arrived clan militias – to coordinate effectively and maintain cohesion in the heat of battle.
Regardless of the military outcome, the message sent by this act of solidarity between the Habargidir and Hawaadle clans may prove just as powerful as any battlefield victory.
