ANKARA — Turkey has reportedly sent armed drones, missiles, and military experts to Sudan in a move aimed at strengthening the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) amid intensifying clashes with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to Middle East Eye.
The report said this is the first time Turkey has deployed military experts and technical personnel inside Sudan, including specialists in drone operations and missile systems. The deployment is part of Ankara’s growing security cooperation with the Sudanese government led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
The Turkish support comes after the RSF captured several strategic areas in northern Darfur and Kordofan, raising alarm among regional powers. The delivery of advanced weapons and technical assistance is expected to boost the SAF’s combat capabilities as the conflict spreads across the country.
Ankara has not officially commented on the reports, but Turkish officials have previously expressed concern over the instability in Sudan and its impact on the wider Horn of Africa and Red Sea region.
The move highlights Turkey’s increasing involvement in regional security dynamics, where various foreign actors — including Egypt and the United Arab Emirates — have also been accused of backing rival sides in Sudan’s devastating conflict.
