MOGADISHU, (HAN) – Two Turkish Air Force A400M Atlas aircraft, bearing tail numbers 14-0013 and 15-0051, landed directly in Mogadishu on September 13 after departing from Kayseri, Turkey.

The flights are part of the growing defense and military training cooperation between Somalia and Turkey. After their initial stop in Mogadishu, the two aircraft later continued to Djibouti, with aircraft 15-0051 returning to Mogadishu the following day.

Since 2011, Somalia and Turkey have strengthened ties across multiple sectors, with Ankara playing a major role in supporting Somalia’s security, infrastructure development, and training of its armed forces.

On the same day, Turkey’s ambassador in Mogadishu met with Somalia’s Minister of Defense to discuss ongoing security cooperation.

Meanwhile, in Doha, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held talks with Somalia’s President, emphasizing that relations between the two countries are expanding significantly and that Turkey will further increase its support for Somalia.
