LONDON – A 27-year-old woman has been killed in East London, prompting a police investigation into the incident that has left her family devastated. Relatives described her as a kind and compassionate person with big ambitions in life.

The victim, identified as Zahwa Salah Mukhtar, died after being attacked on Chadwell Heath Lane in Romford during the early hours of Saturday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police.
In a statement, her family said:
“Zahwa was a kind-hearted person with good character and high aspirations. Her memory will never leave our hearts. Her passing has left us with deep pain, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.”
Police confirmed that four men have been arrested in connection with the killing. A 35-year-old man was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of assisting an offender. This follows the arrest of another 35-year-old man on suspicion of murder, along with two others aged 21 and 22, also suspected of assisting an offender.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, were called at around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday after reports of a woman being attacked on Chadwell Heath Lane.
Chief Superintendent Brian Hobbs expressed condolences, saying:
“We are deeply saddened for Zahwa’s family and friends at this painful time. Although several arrests have been made, residents will continue to see a significant police presence in the area as investigations progress. We urge anyone in Romford who saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward.”
While police have not released details about the victim’s background, some social media users suggested she may have been of Somali origin, though the BBC has not confirmed this. Online tributes have poured in, with many expressing shock and grief over her death.
