DOHA — Somalia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Jamal Mohamed Hassan, led a delegation of Somali business leaders on an official visit to the Qatar Chamber, as Somalia seeks to strengthen trade and investment ties with the Gulf state.

Hassan said Somalia offers broad investment opportunities, particularly in sectors including agriculture, fisheries, energy, infrastructure and manufacturing. He urged Qatari companies to consider investing in the country, citing Somalia’s strategic location along major international shipping routes connecting Africa and the Middle East.
The minister said the Somali government is working to improve the business and investment climate, including regulatory reforms and measures to attract foreign investment.
Officials at the Qatar Chamber expressed interest in strengthening economic engagement with Somalia and exploring opportunities for cooperation between Qatari and Somali businesses.
