ÉVIAN-LES-BAINS — Kenya’s President arrived Tuesday in the lakeside town of Évian-les-Bains in France, accompanied by First Lady Rachel Ruto, to attend the G7 Summit, where world leaders are convening to address urgent global economic, political and security challenges.

The Kenyan head of state joins leaders from the Group of Seven industrialized nations, alongside invited partner countries, for high-level talks expected to focus on global economic stability, climate change, development financing, food and energy security, and international peace.

Officials said the Kenyan President is expected to take part in plenary sessions as well as hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. The discussions are likely to emphasize cooperation on trade and investment, climate resilience, infrastructure development, and regional security issues, particularly in Africa and the Horn of Africa.

The summit is taking place amid growing global uncertainty, with leaders seeking coordinated responses to geopolitical tensions, rising debt distress in developing economies, and the accelerating impacts of climate change across vulnerable regions.
Kenya has in recent years positioned itself as a key diplomatic voice in East Africa, advocating for reforms in global financial institutions and greater access to climate financing for developing countries.
The G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains is expected to conclude with a joint communiqué outlining shared priorities and commitments for the year ahead.
