MOGADISHU – Somali referee Omar Artan has been appointed to officiate the 2026 UEFA Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Aston Villa, marking another historic milestone for East African football officiating.

The prestigious match will be played on 12 August at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria, where the winners of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League will compete for the season’s first European trophy.

Artan will be assisted by Liban Abdirisaq of Djibouti and Eliezer Yiembe of Kenya, highlighting the growing recognition of East African match officials on the international stage.
