MOGADISHU — A high-level delegation from Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization is expected in Mogadishu on Tuesday for talks aimed at deepening security cooperation and supporting Somalia’s ongoing political stabilization efforts, according to informed sources.

The delegation, reportedly led by the deputy head of the Turkish intelligence agency, is expected to meet senior officials from the Federal Government of Somalia, alongside other key actors involved in security and political affairs.

Sources said discussions will focus on strengthening coordination between the two countries in areas including intelligence sharing, counterterrorism operations, and broader security cooperation amid continued threats from extremist groups in the region.

The visit is also expected to address efforts to support dialogue between the Somali government and opposition stakeholders, as part of wider initiatives aimed at promoting political consensus and stability.

Turkey has played a significant role in Somalia over the past decade, expanding its engagement through security assistance, military training programs, infrastructure projects, humanitarian aid, and institutional support.

Officials say the partnership between Mogadishu and Ankara has become one of Somalia’s most important bilateral relationships, particularly in the fields of security sector reform and state-building.

The latest visit comes as Somalia continues to pursue international support for its stabilization agenda and efforts to strengthen governance and national security institutions.
