MOGADISHU — Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday met a delegation of Italian business leaders and investors in Mogadishu to discuss expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting, held at the presidential palace, brought together senior Italian executives representing companies in industry, infrastructure, and investment sectors. The Italian ambassador to Somalia also attended the discussions.

President Mohamud welcomed the delegation and said Somalia was making progress in security stabilization, economic recovery, and efforts to create a more favorable environment for foreign investment.
He encouraged investors to consider opportunities in key sectors including infrastructure, energy, fisheries, agriculture, manufacturing, and social services, according to a statement from the presidency.
