DUBAI — The United Arab Emirates is reportedly in discussions to purchase India’s BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles and Akashteer air defence system, according to Reuters.

The talks are said to be in an early phase, as the Gulf state moves to strengthen its military capabilities following recent tensions and conflicts in the Middle East.
The BrahMos system, jointly developed by India and Russia, is considered one of the world’s fastest cruise missiles and is capable of delivering high-precision strikes at supersonic speeds.
The Akashteer system forms part of India’s modernised air defence architecture, designed to improve real-time coordination and response to aerial threats.
Neither the UAE nor Indian authorities have publicly confirmed the reported negotiations.
