DUBROVNIK — Somalia and Croatia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Political Consultations, establishing a framework for regular diplomatic dialogue and enhanced cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement was signed by Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Ali, and Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman, during a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the Dubrovnik Forum.

According to Somalia’s Foreign Ministry, the consultations focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring opportunities for closer cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The newly signed agreement provides a mechanism for regular political consultations between the two foreign ministries, enabling discussions on bilateral ties as well as regional and international issues.

The two ministers welcomed progress achieved since their previous meeting in Brussels in November 2025 and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation and deepening the growing partnership between Somalia and Croatia.

They also highlighted the accreditation of Somalia’s first non-resident ambassador to Croatia as a significant milestone in diplomatic relations, reflecting increased engagement between the two countries.

The meeting underscored the shared desire of both governments to promote stronger political, diplomatic, and economic cooperation through sustained dialogue and mutual engagement.

The talks took place during the Dubrovnik Forum, an annual international gathering that brings together senior government officials, diplomats, policymakers, and experts to discuss global political, economic, and security challenges.

The signing of the Political Consultations Agreement marks a further step in Somalia’s efforts to broaden its diplomatic partnerships in Europe and strengthen international cooperation as the country continues its state-building and development agenda.

For Croatia, the agreement reflects its growing engagement with African partners and support for enhanced political dialogue and cooperation with countries across the continent.
