SANAA — Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mustafa Noman has accused the Houthi movement of rejecting a peaceful solution, saying the group’s survival depends on maintaining a state of conflict.
Speaking to Al Arabiya, Noman said the Houthis are attempting to shift attention away from Yemen’s internal challenges by escalating regional tensions.
He also accused Iran of seeking to expand the Yemen conflict by pushing the Houthi movement to open new fronts, claiming that Tehran and its allied groups pose a wider threat to regional security.
Noman warned that the security situation around the Bab al-Mandab Strait is not only a Yemeni concern but a global issue because the strategic waterway is vital for international trade and energy shipments.
His comments come amid continued tensions in the Red Sea region, where Houthi attacks and maritime security concerns have raised international alarm and drawn responses from regional and global powers.
