MOSCOW — A bomb explosion at an upscale restaurant in central Moscow killed three people and injured at least 21 others, prompting Russian authorities to launch a terrorism investigation.
According to officials, the blast occurred after a woman carrying an improvised explosive device was stopped by security while attempting to enter the restaurant during a private event. The explosion killed the woman, a security guard, and another individual, while more than 20 people were wounded.
Emergency services and security personnel quickly sealed off the area as investigators examined the scene. Russian authorities have described the explosion as a terrorist attack, although no group has claimed responsibility. The investigation remains ongoing.
