NAIROBI — Kenya has reportedly maintained the inclusion of Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister on a list of individuals restricted from entering the country, despite ongoing diplomatic contacts aimed at addressing the matter.
According to sources familiar with the issue, Kenyan authorities have not yet approved a request to remove the senior Somali official from the immigration restriction list. The decision has raised concerns in Mogadishu, where officials are seeking clarification and a diplomatic resolution.
The restriction has added a new point of tension to the relationship between the two neighboring countries, which have strong security, economic, and political ties.
