LONDON — Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is focused on two key objectives during the summer transfer window: generating significant revenue from player sales while simultaneously strengthening Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Berta and his assistant Maurizio Michele are understood to have strong relationships with clubs in Turkey, and Arsenal are now looking to use those connections as part of their transfer strategy.
Arsenal have reportedly given the green light for Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri to leave the club if suitable offers are received.
Galatasaray have reportedly made a €45 million offer for Martinelli. However, the Brazilian winger is currently not keen on moving to Turkey, which could complicate negotiations between the clubs.
Interestingly, during discussions over Martinelli’s potential transfer, Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen was also reportedly brought into the talks. The Nigerian forward’s name has therefore emerged in connection with Arsenal’s transfer discussions with the Turkish club. 👀
Galatasaray are not the only club interested in Ethan Nwaneri. AC Milan, Fulham, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have reportedly shown interest in the highly rated Arsenal youngster.
Arsenal are also in talks over the permanent sale of Reiss Nelson to West Ham United. A deal could reportedly generate around £3 million for Arsenal.
The Gunners have already raised around £45 million from player sales during the current transfer window, with departures including Leandro Trossard, Jakub Kiwior, Christian Nørgaard and Karl Hein.
The club’s transfer strategy is therefore focused not only on bringing in new players but also on creating space in the squad and generating funds through departures.
The potential involvement of Victor Osimhen adds another intriguing element to Arsenal’s dealings with Galatasaray, although there is currently no confirmed agreement between Arsenal and the Nigerian striker.
